Weather-Proof your resume . . .
Do you think you’d ever need to evacuate your home? According to the Census Bureau, the number of Americans in a coastal county recently passed the 150 million mark, so it’s about 53 percent of all Americans live in what we would consider a coastal county.
During this Hurricane season, we are thinking about over 1/2 the people in our country who could be affected by Hurricanes, strong winds, torrential rains, flooding, etc.
Is the other 47% of our population immune from the threats of Mother Nature? I would submit that they are not. What about tornadoes, rain, floods, lightening storms, fires, and ice storms? Mother Nature can create havoc in our life and those things we often take for granted. Those things can be something as simple as a document. A document as important as a resume. After all, a resume is our past history and accomplishments plus our advertisment for our future.
Career management depends upon having a current resume at all times and easy access to it. Will you have acccess to your resume if you are evacuated? Will you have access to your resume if your computer crashes or is damaged?
A web page resume is the answer. It is always stored in cyberspace for you so it can be viewed, printed, posted anytime, from any place.
